It’s Noisy Out There.

  • Post category:Blog

Everyone’s got a blog post, a rebate, a deal, a deadline. Solar has become bustling, fast, and confusing, ironically, in a market meant to create clarity, control, and sustainability. At Mega Watt Power, we’ve seen it all, and frankly, we’ve done it all. From tiny off-grid systems 3 decades ago in the Dorrigo hills to giant solar farms all around Australia, we’ve been in the solar industry long before it became crowded.

But today, we want to talk not just about what we do, but why we do it differently.

Let’s face the truth. While the new federal battery rebate sounds wonderful in theory, it has already led to a surge of pop-up companies, unrealistic offers, and salespeople who wouldn’t know how to wire a toaster. This situation creates a confusing and risky landscape for customers. And for us, it’s deeply personal.

Every poorly designed and installed system doesn’t just fail a household; it undermines trust in all of us, which affects the entire industry—especially for those of us who have dedicated decades to building that trust.

So, we want to be clear: we will not sell you the cheapest equipment. We will not vanish after the installation. And we will never suggest anything that we wouldn’t install on our own family’s roof.

We were here before the rebates. And we’ll be here after.

Our origins trace back to the late ’80s, a time when solar energy wasn’t considered trendy and certainly not supported by subsidies. During that era, Peter and Lee were not focused on capturing market share; instead, they sought a peaceful existence. They dreamed of cleaner air and a more sustainable alternative to the noisy generators and jerry cans needed at dusk.

That’s still our compass.

Rebates may fluctuate, policies may evolve, and sales teams may change. However, what remains constant is the system on your roof, the quality of service you receive when something malfunctions, and the assurance that the installers will still be available to assist you five years down the line.

That’s what you’re really buying with a solar and battery system: certainty, support, and staying power.

We will be here for you.

Peter Bulanyi, Founder and CEO

We’re not just selling systems. We’re helping you make a long-term decision

Solar systems and batteries are not simply purchases like a new phone; they represent essential long- term infrastructure for your home and lifestyle. However, many companies still approach them as if they are just a fleeting trend.

We view every home as the foundation for a long-term relationship. When you choose to install with us, you’re not merely acquiring panels or batteries; you’re gaining access to decades of technical know-how, invaluable insights, and a level of dedication that goes beyond one-time interactions.

There’s no one else — just individuals who genuinely care about doing things right. We prioritise avoiding the waste of taxpayer money on ineffective systems, ensuring that our skilled tradespeople receive fair pay and favourable working conditions.

We’re also looking ahead to make sure we are around to support our customers well into the future by employing apprentices who are trained with the same principles we aspire to.

We also advocate for saying no to unreliable practices and embracing what is truly sustainable.

At Mega Watt Power, training apprentices isn’t just about ticking a box or solving a labour shortage. It’s about investing in the future, not just of our business, but of the industry we’ve helped shape for over 36 years.

We don’t see apprentices as extra hands. We see them as fresh eyes. They ask the good questions. They notice what we take for granted. And they bring an energy that reminds us why we started in the first place.

We’ve always believed the best electricians aren’t born, they’re built. Slowly. Carefully. On real jobs, with real mentoring and with the kind of patience you only learn from a family-run business that’s in it for the long haul.

And when someone tells us their nephew, daughter, or neighbour wants to learn the trade, we don’t just nod politely. We say: send them our way.

Because keeping the lights on, literally and figuratively, depends on passing the torch.

The payback period for a solar battery system refers to the time required for the savings produced by the battery to equal its initial investment. Several factors influence this such as battery costs, electricity prices, export feed-in tariffs, and patterns of electricity usage. In 2025, residential battery systems generally have payback periods ranging from 6 to 10 years, with certain circumstances offering the possibility of even shorter durations, around 5 years. This is particularly true when government incentives are available and electricity market conditions are favourable, such as participating in a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) with Amber Electric.

Harvesting the Fruits of Our Labour

In a marketplace filled with noise, distinguishing the genuine from the counterfeit can be quite challenging. As social beings, it’s ingrained in our nature to share positive experiences with those around us. We perceive our society as a tribe, and in a bid to enhance that sense of community, we are eager to assist others who seek our advice. Referrals hold immense value; they fill us with pride and offer social validation, showing that our customers appreciate our company and its services. This, in turn, affirms our support, efforts, and core values that we put into all our installations.

We are located in Coffs Harbour, and we’ve successfully installed thousands of systems—rest assured, we’re here to stay. Whether you have questions about batteries, need guidance on an older solar system, or simply want to speak with a real person, we are ready to assist you.
