Understanding Hybrid Battery systems vs. Off-Grid Systems
It’s important to understand that a hybrid battery system is quite different from a traditional off-grid system and setup. Many hybrid systems are designed to support only certain loads and are typically connected to a specific circuit in your meter box. For example, the Tesla Powerwall 3 provides enhanced flexibility and can manage loads with a surge capacity of 7 kW and your system remains connected to the utility network/grid.
Off-grid system are not connected to the utility network/grid and require another form of back up energy like a petrol or diesel powered generator to provide additional power when needed.
Partnering with a knowledgeable company specialising in off-grid solutions is essential to grasp the limitations of hybrid systems especially in rural areas.
Why Choose Mega Watt Power
At Mega Watt Power, we are proud to be a certified installer of the Tesla solar battery system. With its modern design and cutting-edge engineering, the Tesla Powerwall 3 minimises your reliance on the main grid by utilizing energy stored in the batteries from your solar power system.
The Tesla Powerwall 3 is equipped to detect grid outages and will seamlessly switch to drawing energy from the Lithium batteries, even during daytime power interruptions.

Sizing Your Solar Array
When setting up a solar battery system, it’s crucial to ensure that your solar array is properly sized. Here’s how a solar hybrid battery system manages energy distribution:
Many retail energy providers prefer that you keep using their energy for obvious reasons. At present, most energy providers offer very low feed-in tariff for energy exported from a solar system.
The NSW Government is offering a rebate for connecting eligible solar batteries to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). This VPP incentive is a payment for participating in a VPP, which helps stabilise the electricity grid and potentially provides financial benefits.
The rebate amount varies based on battery size, with larger batteries receiving higher payments, potentially up to $1,500 for a 27kWh battery.
We take great pride in selling and installing solar battery hybrid systems, but our true fulfillment comes from delivering the most effective money-saving energy solution tailored to you.
